Airport Security & Operations Compliance System (ASOCS / CALS)

GCR has developed the Airport Security and Operational Compliance System (ASOCS) for use by the three Port Authority of New York and New Jersey airports (John F. Kennedy, Laguardia, and Newark Liberty) to manage their vast amount of information.

ASOCS is used to document all airport inspections, manage the Part 139 compliance process, document calls for service, issue NOTAMS, and store operational and activity data for the facilities. This program is used on a 24/7 basis, and serves as the official and legal log of activities occurring at the airports.

Due to the wide range of data elements (1,200+ formatted forms), GCR used a creative method of developing the application that allows the Port Authority staff to easily add custom-designed screens into the program. This eliminates the need for the Port Authority to continuously hire programming staff to add or revise forms and screens every time a change is needed.

ASOCS is an enterprise wide data communication system.
It compiles and distributes operational information from numerous departments throughout the Authority's airports. The ASOCS system stores and maintains critical airport operations data for easy access and reference. The system also serves as the central record and legal document of activities that require monitoring by the Airports operational units. Using tour stamps, pertinent information about particular shift events are stored in a central database. The system has the capabilities of selecting and routing log entries and/or reports to printers or email users; or flagging entries as required reading for individuals or groups of users.

Several of the uses designed in the system include:

• Assigning work shifts.

• Recording incidents/events by subject category unique to each airport and division.

• Alerting specified staff and requiring reading of selected subjects

• Tracking action documents related to their completion in a timely fashion (i.e. Notices to Airman, work requests, action item memos, etc.)

• Reporting that complies with and supports the FAA Federal Aviation Regulation FAR Part 139 certification process

• Programming specialized processing for such items as NOTAM's, Snow Tours, Runway and Taxiway Lighting, and FAA Inspections

• Utilizing an open architecture to allow for future interfaces

• Providing the capability to attach maps and images

• Providing electronic output to control towers and FAA Flight Services by fax or email log information
